PETRONAS HARI RAYA CAMPAIGN : KE PANGKUAN BONDA
9:23:00 AM
In my post Monochromatic Teratai, I mentioned that I was about to
attend a press event for a launch of a video campaign. So here is the event I wrote
about earlier.
The event was held at Symphony Lake Suite and it was the first time
I’ve been there. It’s a nice beautiful place with natural sunlight lighting up that
day. Since I arrived at 2pm, I was quite early so I managed to get the best
seat at the second row at the beautiful hall (the first row was reserved for PETRONAS
representatives). Even though I live not very far from the KLCC or PETRONAS
Twin Towers, I don’t usually take photos of the building. But since I had a
little time to spare, I took some shots of Malaysia’s pride, the KLCC.
The event was in conjunction with PETRONAS launching its much
anticipated Hari Raya campaign to celebrate the upcoming Raya Aidilfitri
celebration. The event hall was tastefully decorated with raya props to give
that raya feel. They did a good job!
“Reflect on yesterday. Live
for today. Hope for tomorrow.”
For the past few years, I’ve always looked forward to see PETRONAS
raya videos as the ads were always heartfelt and touched my soul. I know a lot
of other people who feel the same way too and during raya there’s always a
discussion of “have you seen this year’s PETRONAS raya ad?” That’s how deep PETRONAS
has touched Malaysians. So who wouldn’t want to know what video they would want
to come out next?
Anyway, before the screening, I saw people lining up to take photos
with a little pretty girl, but I didn’t know who she was.
After they screened the video for us, I immediately recognized who
the girl was. Right after the screening, I went to her and asked her name and
her age. Her name is Dania Erisha (she spelt it out for me too) and she is
8-years old. She is just so adorable and I kept on going to her and took lots
of photos and selfus with her who was just enthusiastic and happily obliged.
Just a pleasant, smiley and very friendly
kid. No wonder they took her for the web-film. She is going to be a star, if
she isn’t one already.
Back to the raya video, do you know which one is my favourite part?
(Don’t read this part if you haven’t seen the video.) It is the part when Ani
turns into an adult while seeking forgiveness from her parents. That just gets
to me. How we do it, seeking forgiveness from those closest to us, our family,
year in year out during raya aidilfitri. For me that part has always been an
emotional part of raya.
“Home is where the heart is” is the inspiration for the web film.
Norliza Kamaruddin, the PETRONAS Senior General Manager, Group Strategic
Communications said “It tells a humble
story about the noble values we learn from our parents and the values we pass
on to our children through age-old family traditions”.
She also mentioned about the Sentuhan Kasih Programme done by PETRONAS
to reach out to the less fortunate single mothers and also (this my husband
will love!) announced free coffee and snacks at some PETRONAS stations for this
raya.
So did you like this year’s PETRONAS raya ad? Which one was your favourite?
Let me know.
In the spirit of raya, I seek forgiveness from all of you. Enjoy
preparing for Raya. Only a few days left! Have a blessed one.
Peace & Love!
