Raya On Fire 2013 : Part 1 : Night Before Eid
1:47:00 PM
It's been a family tradition on my father's side that the night before Eid
or the last day of Ramadhan is spent together at my eldest aunt's house. This
has been the tradition for as long as I can remember. When they stayed in Ipoh,
we traveled back to Ipoh just to be there the night before Raya. In recent
years, even though some of my dad's siblings are not staying in KL, everyone
will still gather at my aunt's place because that was where my grandmother Tah
was staying. Including last year.
My mum and aunts would prepare the best and most mouthwatering Malay dishes
in the world. Everyone would get together to break fast together, then perform
Maghrib prayers followed by the men leading the takbir raya. After everyone is
full, the cousins would have a bit of fun as we would gather outside to play
with fireworks. I'll share the pictures in another post.
This year, the ladies were asked to come in their kaftans, just to set a
theme. And once my big family comes together, you know you can expect a whole
lot of photos too!
Although it was a joyous occasion, shared in the good company of family and
great food, it was also a very emotional Eid for me. The most difficult Eid I ever had to face. The mental blocks and the emotional breakdowns in front of everyone. (Hence, the massive eyebags and swollen face. Ignore please) I'll share that in a
different post, God-willing. It's not an easy thing to share. Suffice for me to say that, my late daughter is in mind and heart every single second and never would I have imagined that I would be spending this Eid without her with me and my husband in this world. God has better plans for all of us.
In the meantime, I hope everyone enjoyed their Eid
and holidays! :) Let's be thankful for all that we have been blessed with in this temporary world we live in.

I always feel that babies know what mothers are going through. I only feel this most after I became a mother myself. There's some sort of a connection with babies I've met.
I feel that Rayfal can sense something since he was in Fasha's womb during the times Fasha & Yeop Rizal came and visited me in the hospital while I was carrying Jibrael. The way Rayfal looked into my eyes, the way he tried to converse with me and the smiles that he gave me that night is really comforting. I think he misses Jibrael too. :)
